Ash Wednesday, March 5

 

Ashes to Go

Join Pastor JoAnn Post and our Willow Road partners will be offering drive-by ashes at these locations/times:

Winnetka Presbyterian Church: 7:30-8:30 am and 12-1 pm

Northfield Community Church: 7:45-8:45 am

St. James the Less Episcopal Church: 3:00-4:00 pm

 

You need not leave your car--drive up to the servers and they will impose ashes on your forehead and offer an Ash Wednesday blessing.

 

Ash Wednesday Worship, 7:00 p.m. at Ascension

 

The Glenbrook Parishes will join us at Ascension for Imposition of Ashes and Holy Communion.


 

Lent Vespers with Soup Supper

 

Join us each Wednesday during Lent as we worship at a different Glenbrook Parish congregation. Vespers begins at 6:00 p.m., Soup Super at 6:30 p.m.

Passion Sunday, April 13

 

Worship at Ascension at 10 a.m.

 

Palm Procession/Reading of Jesus' Passion According to Luke and Holy Communion

  

Passion Sunday Cantata at Ascension, 7 p.m.

 

The Glenbrook Parish and Willow Road congregations join us to perform a Passion Sunday Cantata, "Seven Last Words” by MJ Trotta.

 

Maundy Thursday, April 17, 7:00 p.m. at Ascension

 

Laying on of Hands for Forgiveness, the Lord's Supper, and Stripping of the Altar

 

Good Friday, April 18

 

Ascension members are invited to worship with our Willow Road neighbors:

 

St. James the Less will offer a Taizé service—a quiet liturgy of chant, scripture and silence. Worship is at 7 pm.

 

Northfield Community Church will offer a Tenebrae service—a liturgy of scripture, song and growing darkness as candles are extinguished. Worship is at 7 pm.

 

Holy Saturday, April 19

 

St. James the Less Episcopal Church welcomes the Willow Road congregation to an Easter Vigil on Easter Eve. Details about the liturgy and start time are forthcoming.

 

Festival of the Resurrection, April 20

 

We gather for joyous worship and the return of Alleluia at both 8:30 and 10:30 a.m.

 

Easter Breakfast will feature freshly-made Swedish Pancakes with lingonberries and sausage. (A gluten-free option will also be offered.) Breakfast will be served from 9 - 10:15 a.m.

 

Children will assemble on the front lawn for the Easter Egg Hunt at 9:45 a.m.
